Double vandals – new glass required
St Giles Church in Holme has had some unwelcome visitors in the form of vandals who forced entry to the church. As you will see from this the first visit was through the right hand window. Unbelievably just a few days later they destroyed the window next to it when they returned a second time. The damage was extensive but luckily did not affect the cinquefoil headers which were untouched and a pair of new rectangular leaded lights were required, The old glass was salvaged and replaced in the same position during the build The new glass in indistinguishable from the old and gives the...

The Cross Keys has recently been crownd the overall winner of the Channel 4 programme Four in a Bed The show involves four B&B owners taking turns staying at each other’s hotels, requiring them to inspect the rooms and sample the...

This round door window had the unwelcome attention of a drunken reveller in Great Shelford near Cambridge This was an opportunity to create something very special to turn a disaster in to a triumph This is from the inside to give an idea of colours Another happy customer : ‘Claire is thrilled with the window and keeps showing it to all who...

Montague Road in Cambridge has seen several leaded lights come to my workshop Here is the leaded light apart with the central portion still to be stripped Cracked glass needs to be matched and replaced – this is all caused by the distortion of the leaded panel. As the door slams shut the glass and lead have weight which gradually makes the panel creep – the further from the hinge the greater the force applied. I added some sponge draft excluder to the door surround to soften the closing. Client had this to say on completion: ‘All looks good and hopefully will last a good...
