Here are some details on Bidwells:

Established in 1839 by Charles Bidwell, the Firm, originally in Ely, focused on the valuation, sale, purchase and management of farms and Estates in Cambridgeshire.

By the early twentieth century, the Firm had relocated to Cambridge and subsequently increased its Cambridge College client base – Charles Muriel Bidwell had already acted for a small number of Colleges, including Trinity College. The number of clients continued to grow and, prior to the Second World War, they ranged from private, rural and Colleges, to institutions – notably the Church, the Crown and various charitable trusts.

An important Partner in the history of the Firm was Sir Francis Pemberton, who joined Bidwells in 1939 and was responsible for our rapid growth and expansion beyond Cambridge.

Today, Bidwells employs almost 500 people, has 13 offices across England and Scotland, comprises over 40 Specialist Service Teams, is one of the UK’s leading property consultancies and provides a full range of Commercial, Residential and Rural services. Our clients range from Tesco and most of the major house developers in the country, to landowners, Colleges in Oxford and Cambridge, City institutions and some of the nation’s wealthiest families.
