Original Solopark leaded glass going green with recycling.

Recently I have acquired a large stock of original leaded glass panels from local reclaimation company Solopark and we are going green with recycling these into fully refurbished stained glass windows to match original designs.

Solopark have been specialists in reclaiming traditional building materials and supplies for many years and had built up an impressive array of stained glass. The Solopark stock includes a wide variety of styles from Victorian through to Art Deco and will offer you the chance to have original windows freshly rebuilt to suit your propert.  Please contact us on 01223 891578 to discuss.

Only the leadwork will degrade over time and rebuilding the glass with new lead, solder and sealant gives the stained glass window a whole new lease of life.

Here is one of the leaded lights before being stripped for rebuild:

This has already been successfully achieved in a house in Surbiton where two of the above leaded windows were stripped and combined to build a much larger domed door window.

Using this method the property has an original window of a correct style which having being recycled and rebuilt has a whole new lease of life. The main frontage was fitted with clear glass and having these two windows, which match neatly the two original units in the top of the door, has improved security and added a real feature element.

First impressions count and this work was undertaken as the final phase of a redevelopment of the house prior to sale on a very tight deadline – the customer brief was to deliver and fit the recycled leaded lights on a two week schedule. Two days after I completed the installation the house went on the market and sold to new owners within three weeks.
